The 1/2 inch Drive Air Impact Wrench from Snap-on Tools Company comes equipped with a new ergonomically, designed handle, larger selector knob and muffler bypass system. The system allows the user to run the impact wrench in either quiet or open mode. A chemical-resistant Santoprene handle helps protect the technician''s hand from heat and vibration when the impact wrench is being used. Snap-on Tools Company The new one-half inch Drive Impact Wrench (CT3450) from Snap-on Tools Company is a powerful cord-free impact wrench. The wrench''s increased power comes from its larger impact mechanism, while the 14.4-volt battery, which is housed in a powerful high-capacity pack, provides longer running time. The Drive Impact Wrench is cord-free, allowing automotive technicians to move around the workshop to remove most auto lug nuts without having to plug and unplug air hoses or extension cords. The wrench also has a motor and heavy-duty switch that changes the wrench''s speed for different jobs. This new RC2261 1/2-in, impact wrench has been introduced by American Rodcraft. It boasts a maximum torque of 600 ft. lbs. in reverse, and 450 ft. lbs. in forward. Permanent-magnetic bearings do the primary work, while digitally controlled electromagnets provide the fine positioning. Four positioning signals per bearing hold the levitated assembly to a tolerance of 0.00002 in. As the levitated assembly moves from the center point, the electromagnets'' intensity is adjusted to correct the position. These adjustments occur 6 million times a minute. The software has been designed to automatically compensate for any out-of-balance condition in the levitated assembly.SHUTDOWNS AND POWER FAILURESWhen the compressor williamshydraulicpumps is not running, the shaft assembly rests on graphite-lined, radially located touchdown bearings. The magnetic bearings normally position the rotor in the proper location, preventing contact between the rotor and other metallic surfaces.
