Air supplyAir systems on a light-rescue hydraulicpumptruckhoistpto truck should be given careful consideration due to the substantial weight of most of the components. Air system storage choices should be matched to the output of the stationary air compressor. DOT cylinders with 4,500 or 6,000psi ratings hydraulicpumptruckhoistpto weigh 144 pounds or 188 pounds each while ASME cylinders with 5,000 or 6,000psi ratings that weigh 400 pounds each. The DOT cylinders need easy access for removal, as they will need to be removed every five years for hydro testing. The ASME cylinders never need hydro testing, so they can be located in areas where future access may not be of a concern. However, they cost hydraulicpumptruckhoistpto more than DOT cylinders. 1. Keep a hand pyrometer or a "heat gun" handy. It is an excellent tool for checking drum temperatures. Any drum that is much cooler than others indicates a lack of brake effort on that particular wheel.2. Mike all drums when relining brakes. Both drums on the same axle must be within .010 inches (25 mm) of the same diameter. Never attempt to reline just one hydraulicpumptruckhoistpto wheel on an axle. When you replace brake drums, install new drums on both sides.3. Store drums with the open end face down. Never store them on the sides. When installing drums, use the same crisscross pattern of applying fasteners as wheel lugs on wheels and hubs. These tightening practices prevent drum distortion.4. Never exceed the brake drum manufacturer''s discard brake drum diameter. This figure appears on all brake drums. When checking brake drum diameter for wear, the diameter should not exceed 0.120 inches (3.0 mm) over the original diameter. The recut diameter hydraulicpumptruckhoistpto should not exceed .080 inches (2 mm) over the original diameter. That is, after turning the drum, all at least .040 inches (1 mm) for wear. 5. Joint design and material thickness. Some electrodes create an arc that penetrates deeply, performing well on thick sections with narrow grooves or no bevel. Poor fit-up calls for electrodes that can bridge wide gaps.6. Efficiency. Meeting all other conditions, engineers select the electrode that gives highest deposition rate. For heavy-section joints, use powder-metal-addition fillers.Designating electrodes for carbon and low-alloy steels, following the prefix E'', to signify a SMAW electrode, come two or three digits to indicate minimum tensile strength in 1,000 PSI units; a digit indicating usable current and electrode-coating type; and, in some cases, a hyphen followed by a letter and number suffix to denote weld metal composition. Example: E7010-A1 is a SMAW electrode (E), of 70,000-psi tensile strength (70), for use in all welding positions (1), having a high-cellulose-sodium coating tin use with DCEP (0). -A1 indicates a particular composition listed in the A5 specification. A-1 suffix, as in 7018-1, indicates high impact hydraulicpumptruckhoistpto toughness at a temperature lower than hydraulicpumptruckhoistpto specified for a standard E7018 electrode.
