The marine market probably was a leader, given the presence of hot engines in cramped quarters hydraulic that still required mechanics and operators to have access to all the nooks and crannies. There were also operational considerations in pump on- and off-highway equipment, such as an engine simulation hot spot being exposed to engine or hydraulic fluids or a dirty operating environment and the resulting risk of fire.As a result, engine insulation hydraulic and pump blankets have been an accepted component in almost types of engines and equipment for many years. In on-highway, off-highway, stationary or marine uses, you usually find an insulation blanket or cover somewhere on the engine.

The CPU system features a signal line from the pump load sense controller through the power core of the valve stack to tank that is drained until a function is activated (a spool is moved). When a lift, telescoping, tilt or auxiliary spool is moved, the signal line is blocked, the pressure builds and the pump goes to its simulation and hydraulic compensated pump setting. This signal channel is supplied with oil though a 0.035 in. orifice which connects the power core to the open center passage.Individual spools meter the required flow and pressure to the function. The pump delivers the required simulation flow at the pump hydraulic compensator pressure setting. The pump is pump at standby (unloaded at approximately 350 psi) when all functions are in neutral. The CPU system makes it easier to start the engine simulation and prevents "ghost" movements when the functions hydraulic and pump are in neutral.
